Silly Yucca

It does this every year, around mid-September a huge spear appears that slowly grows higher and higher and then bursts into lots of buds.
The flowers start opening about the third week in October.
Just in time for the first frost to nip all the unopened buds.
The top of this is about 4ft high and the flowers are very exotic.
Perhaps this year we will get a few more weeks before it freezes.
