Perth Bridge

This bridge has at least three different names, depending on who you are speaking to:-) It's Perth Bridge to most, Smeaton's Bridge (after the engineer who built it in 1771) to others and The Old Bridge (or Auld Brig) to some of the more elderly residents of the city. It was widened in 1869 and has withstood many attempts by the River Tay to knock it down , as happened to an original bridge here:-)

Busy day today, as we visited the local Cats' Protection fair in Scone, followed by the Perth U3A "Time for Art" exhibition, which is part of a bigger "Luminate" programme. This is billed as "Scotland's Creative Ageing Festival" and the U3A contribution included paintings, photographs, a card making workshop and performances by the Poetry and Ukelele groups. Maybe next year I'll pluck up the courage to mount and exhibit some of my own pictures:-)

This evening, we are off to Dundee to a concert by the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra in the Caird Hall, so it promises to be a foot tapping end to a day of craft and culture!
