Pumpkin Season

With Halloween upon us pumpkins miraculously appear everywhere.

I still find pumpkins exotic. When I was growing up in the north east of England in the 1970s they were something we only knew of from Charlie Brown cartoon strips.

Our Halloween was based around swedes (though we called them turnips) which we fashioned into lanterns.

A pumpkins would have been the talk of the town.
