Marine Point, Worthing

Continuing the theme of Post War buildings, when we went to Worthing today, I went off for a walk along the seafront. This is a very striking 8 storey block of flats that enjoys a superb postion on the seafront. It's so typically 1960's, it almost screams it at you! The top with the slightly dipping roof and the cladding is very much of this time. I do not know the date of it, but would tentative say it was early 1960's rather than late.

When it was built, it was cutting edge architecture and my mind's eye can imagine the (what we'd now call vintage!!) furnishings inside when it was brand new with black and white TV's and radiograms etc! I can imagine the decor with big bold patterns some of which are currently in fashion as the wheel is constantly turning and re-inventing itself. These flats are extremely popular and a three bedroom Penthouse flat at the top of this block will set you back at a cool £2,000 per calendar month currently on the rental market.

Worthing contains many interesting buildings of all different dates and this one certainly is among them in my view.
