Come look...

...and bring your camera! So said Ken when I got home from work this evening. He spied these strange, very large brain-like mushrooms in the undergrowth just beyond our lawn. We've lived here in these woods for 15 years, and have never before seen these mushrooms.

I did a mono version (Halloween style), but Ken liked the color better and he did, after all, find them...so color it is!

I tried to figure out what they're called, but found nothing like it my nature book. I'd welcome any information if anyone recognizes them. This is the smallest of the three we found, and they average about 6"-7" diameter.
