Cloud formations today indicated the jet streams of cold air over the Himalayas. We walked a frozen path through snow that had not melted even though it had fallen 2 weeks ago. We are now in a lodge that overlooks the lake at Gokyo, quite idyllic, but as we are here for two nights to acclimatise, I am hoping for a calm lake to show you tomorrow.
This is a truly international experience, people from all over the world are making their pilgrimages to the high Himalayas. The trails are packed and, although I usually like to be alone in the mountains, there is a spirit of comaraderie that develops as you meet the same people every day.
