The Ice House

During last night's orienteering event I visited a checkpoint at this ice house,  in the dark. I went back today to capture it in the light.

According to their website,  Knole's ice house is an early example of the second big wave of ice-house building in the 18th century. In their archives there is a record  of   Getting 80 load of ice and putting it in ye Ice House   £1 15s. 3d - on December 24, 1726
