Kay's House
My beautiful Kaylee has loved the dollhouse my father made for me since she was 3. At first I would play with her, teaching her to respect the tiny pieces and to be gentle. Many items have broken and she would be devastated. She cried when the father fell and broke. Luckily glue held the pieces and together we repaired any harm. I never became angry, realizing the joy it brought her brought me such joy, too! Now, 10 years later, Kaylee will disappear, quiet for long periods and when I look for her, I find her at the dollhouse. Now she rearranges furniture, even rooms, and decorates with ribbons and lace from my sewing stash. Every time I open the doors, I smile as I see lace on the stairs or the bathroom housing the crib and baby items. Her rearranging ever changing. As I smile, I thank my dad for this piece of art that brought me more joy than I could imagine. This dollhouse will go to Kaylee, eventually, but I shall enjoy it for many more years as my beautiful Emelia discovers what joy lies inside!
