Pai trek: day 1
Lead by a local guide, Mam, three fellow travellers and I trekked to a tiny remote village in the mountains about an hour north of Pai. It was only a 8km hike but the terrain and temperature made it a bit of a challenge still, especially as I was wearing sandals. Along the way, Mam taught us some survival skills and about the plants, wildlife and people of the area. During one of the early stops we each got to make our own bamboo cup and then had tea made from lemongrass we picked.
We arrived at the village at 4pm, had a much-needed shower and then explored the little streets. Kids hoop rolling, pigs jumping around and chickens everywhere! We were then cooked dinner and sat looking at the gorgeous view from our room (see above). After dinner we got a lesson in Thai massage and all practised on each other.
We were all in bed (on the floor) by 9pm ready for the 2nd day...
