Istanbul has one hell of a fish scene, albeit a strange one. Locals are forever to be seen pitching their fishing rods off the top deck of the main bridge, but nobody ever seems to catch anything larger than a minnow We discovered that the fish restaurants that line the bridge's lower deck are empty for a reason - why would you want an overpriced sit-down dinner when you could stop for a mackerel kebab from a vibrant, rowdy floating takeaway. These steamy little boats are where it's at.
