Poppies

These are some of the 886, 245 ceramic poppies that have been placed in the moat around the Tower of London. The first one was planted by the longest serving yeoman of the guard on 17th July and the 886, 246th will be placed on Armistice day.

It's very hard-in one photograph-to convey the impact this number of poppies has; from one angle looking into the sun they looked like legions of men marching into the distance, near Traitors Gate on the riverside of The Tower is was possible to get close enough to see them as individuals and here (to me) they look like a wave/splash of the blood they represent

Whichever angle they are viewed from it's hard not to be overwhelmed by the fact that each one is for someone.
