Watching the box
Shrewsbury 1 Chelsea 2
Well the Shrews definitely gave the league leaders a run for their money tonight. A full house at The Meadow saw a really gutsy performance and you wouldn't have guessed that there were 72 places and 3 divisions between the two teams, and that's without thinking about the gulf in money terms.
Unfortunately it just wasn't quite enough and after a goal-less first half Chelsea took the lead early in the second but the roof nearly came off when Shrewsbury equalised with about 15 minutes to go. That parity didn't last too long and Chelsea pounced on a slip to move the play upfield ridiculously quickly for their winner.
The weather was atrocious and I'm very glad we weren't sat in the new stands...with no roof. Although that may have been preferable to the noisiest idiot in the stand being sat next to me, encouraging people to shoot from the halfway line and break peoples legs, whilst constantly swearing in front of his son.
This was a Shrewsbury freekick aimed into the Chelsea area in the second half, with the capacity crowd watching on. Unfortunately not the move that led to the equaliser though.
