Chironomid
I spotted this Chironomid fly (no, it's not a gnat or a mosquito, the feathery antennae are a give away) on outside of the kitchen window this morning as I was cramming my breakfast down my throat before rushing off to work. Since the clocks went back, the go-to-work-in-the-dark-come-home-in-the-dark-no-blip panic has already set in, so needs must. Dashed off and grabbed the camera. Hopeless, couldn't get it to focus through the glass. Grabbed the iPhone, got better shots. Got a hand lens, stuck it in front of the iPhone lens and got this. Come on! Considering how gloomy it was, this is pretty spectacular for an iPhone shot! And at least you know what a Chironomid is now.
