For Mum ...
... one of her favourites.
Lousy day. It started off badly. We left home at about 6.30 this morning to get to Chalgrove in Oxfordshire for 10.45 for the interment of Mum's ashes. The journey usually takes about 2 and a half hours, so we thought 4 and a quarter would be enough. Wrong. First of all, some idiot hit us from behind on one of the roundabouts outside Peterborough. That took abou 20 minutes to exchange details etc. Our car is not badly damaged, but his was - shame. Then the M1 was closed with 9 miles of queues at Northampton, and had been since 4 o'clock in the morning following an accident. Naturally all the roads round Northampton were full of traffic trying to get around the problem. We diverted through Milton Keynes and came up to traffic at a standstill on the Buckingham bypass. We eventually arrived at the cemetery 20 minutes late. Fortunately the vicar was very understanding and helpful, and the ceremony went off OK.
The M1 remained closed until 1pm. The weather was horrid but the journey home was fortunately uneventful. Take-away for tea. Tomorrow will be better.
