Autumn?

Bright sunny but cold today so went to the shop via my favourite local birding spot.

Favourite because of the view but also because in bad weather you can see any birds that are around from the car. I got out to take a photo of the autumn colours and heard a familiar bird call that I couldn't quite place for a second as we don't usually get Lapwings this late in the year up here, but sure enough there were around 30 with some starlings. The farmer of this land has done a lot recently to encourage the Lapwing back to the area and they have had a successful breeding year.

You'll have to take my word for it but they are out there somewhere in the bumps and hollows of the fields. It may just have been the mild weather or some birds passing through but it made my day.

Also saw 3 Buzzards overhead and a Kestrel. Its a lovely spot and its really our local nature reserve thanks to the farmer with help from Natural England and the Peak District Wader Recovery Project.

PS: I know some people may think the electricity pylon on bottom right of the photo may ruin it but I sort of like their majestic presence in the valley and the Kestrels do seem to enjoy hunting from them.
