I just hope it tastes like it!

Gloomy, drizzly day...an oven-warm kitchen, listening to Radio 4, soft under-cupboard lights creating a cosy glow ...just perfect for making the Christmas cake.

However, I'd just got to the crucial stage of folding the fruit and nuts into the other carefully whisked ingredients...when the plumber came half an hour earlier than the start of the five hour possible time slot advised, so I was a little concerned that the delay in getting it into the oven might be detrimental to the finished product.

Guess I won't know until the big day!
