As I rounded the corner to turn into Tompkins Square Park from Avenue B, I ran straight into Sugar, a local dog cooling herself with water coming from a leaking fire hydrant. Not only was she entirely comfortable, she was well hydrated. This is the hottest day in NYC since 2005.
