~The Calling~

Today we went to Seattle to attend my Uncle Glen's funeral.
Uncle Glen retired as a Sergeant from the Seattle police force.
He started his career as a beat cop, patrolman, Detective of Homicide, Auto theft, vice and then serving most of his 38 years as Sergeant.
As children we would listen to all his stories and sit in awe. He was our hero.
I took lots of pictures today of his badge, photo's of him, flowers from his funeral etc.. but this rose that was outside his service reminded me more of a day.
It's always hard to say good-bye even though we know they are no longer in pain and are now living in paradise.
After, we all went to a seafood restaurant on the water and visited for over 4 hours.
Uncle Glenn's twin brother and wife flew here from Washington DC and I haven't seen them in over 10 years so it was wonderful catching up.

The Calling:
The policeman is always on call.
As duty demands it and as duty permits, moments of leisure are truly prized and treasured with family and friends.
Many times the situation he faces presents much despair and these are times he feel no one cares.
Until he remembers the Lord is always there.
As a policeman he answers the call known to be one of "our finest" he always gives it his all. The felon will be ready and willing to run.
He realizes that only God is his closest friend, always near and there at the end. Problems are nothing at all, for to him his Lord too is the Able and always on call.
