The Eve of All Hallows

My Porch. Had a few visitors tonight. the kids looked good.

In the Celtic calendar the thirty-first of October was the end of the year. At night the spirits of the dead were abroad and the witches and the warlocks held their revelries. With the coming of Christianity the Church gathered this festival up into it's own calendar as the Eve of All Saints....Yet something of the macabre and superstitious still lingers darkly around this time of Halloween don't you think.

The genius of Christianity is that it takes the secular and transforms it into the sacred.
