Salmon leaping, Stainforth Foss

We had a very stimulating lecture from Laurie Campbell, a well known wildlife photographer, at Harrogate last week. So, inspired, and also informed by my Dales volunteer colleagues that the salmon were running, went to Stainforth today. It didn't look too promising at first, but when the sun got on the water, the salmon started jumping. Hell, you have to be quick!! By sun up there must have been at least ten photographers plus walkers and various children watching the fish. The various oohs and ahhs made it sound like Bonfire night. Ted was very patient but after 4 hours and 247 shots later it was time to go for a well earned (for Ted) walk and play with the tennis ball.
