Samhuinn
Never mind your fancy modern celebrations of Halloween, where kids demand free sweets and chocolates for putting a sheet over their heads, in Scotland (well Edinburgh anyway) tonight is known as Samhuinn. The last day of October is celebrated by a parade through the streets ending in a battle between the kings of summer and winter, in which obviously the king of winter is triumphant. It was a mild night and I decided to try and get some pictures of the festivities, I managed to get a few half decent shots. A lot of the shots were blurred or out of focus as many of them I took were quick "point and click", I couldn't get a spot near the stage but I did get a decent view of the parade as it entered The Mound precinct. This shot isn't very good quality but I liked the spooky blurred effect, it came out of the camera like this and for a change I have done no post processing, a shame the woman in the middle isn't quite in focus.
