A Fine Day for Photographers

The Blackheath Rhododendron Festival is the longest continuously running festival in the southern hemisphere. This is its 62nd year.

It's not as big as it used to be when just about every business and community group in the village entered an extravagantly decorated float. These days it's more of a pedestrian turn out, but still pretty well supported.

When my children were on the kindy or school or brownies or scouts or sports club etc. float I would spend the preceding weeks helping make costumes, paper crepe flowers etc. Last night while relaxing at Julia's I did spare a guilty though for all those working hard in preparation for today.

Of course it is a boon for blippers. You can unashamedly photograph anyone and everyone and nobody seems to take any notice.

I have put a set on Flickr as has Trisharooni. Gemax was there too.
