Centre of the known Universe?

Bayreuth is surprisingly far east in Germany. One time it was almost on the E-W divide, and only a few tens of km from what was then Soviet-controlled Czechoslovakia. "A small faraway country of which we know little...."?

Even Prague, you will see, is only ~160 miles away.
