Scourie does it in style again..
..this morning, the bonfire consisted of an old chair, and a small piece of carpet.
A bit of effort through the day, and it became a towering inferno.. I got I's trailer, and loaded up his old willow stumps (hope that's OK I!), a few old pallets, rotten gateposts, and an old cupboard to take down to the fire. At this stage it was only about twenty feet high. Having thrown this on the pile, a lorry turned up with more stuff, which we threw on too. J had cut down a hawthorn hedge, so I went round to his place and helped load A's lorry, before loading the trailer again. Took the trailer load down to the fire, and back to J's for the final load. Every one mucks in, but mainly organised by the Fire crew. The end result was pretty impressive..
Over to Tarbet to collect calendars, and down to Kylesku to deliver eggs.
Home for tea, and then watch the display from the porch. Couldn't go down because Tanni hates bangs and flashes. Even from up here, she was a trembling wreck.. Tried to calm her as much as we could, and ended up shutting her in the lounge, behind two closed doors..
A pretty good display for a small community, all funded by voluntary donations through the year and collections on the night.. The kids love it..
It looks great from up here, with lovely reflections in the bay..
