DNA barcoding

Results!! Sooo happy! My project is taking a giant leap forward this week. Today, the barcoding results started coming in (aphids, mealybugs and plant roots). This is what such data looks like: you determine the sequence of a piece of mitochondrial DNA, each peaks shows a base in the code of an individual organism; it's 'barcode'. By comparing barcodes, you can see how similar different individuals are and you can sometimes also classify them into species, if others have described the sequences of that species before.
