Through the Mists of Tengboche ...
Tengboche (or Thyangboche) is the village located at 3,867 metres where we are now staying on our way back downhill. The village is the site of a famous monastery which is the largest in the Khumbu region which was built in 1923. In 1934 it was destroyed by an earthquake but subsequently rebuilt. It was destroyed again by a fire in 1989! Here is the main chorten of the monastery and the gateway. I guess you can recognise the peaks emerging from the clouds if you have been following our journey. A HUGE THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT DESPITE MY LACK OF RESPONSE. Om Mani Padme Hum!
Unlimited wifi for 500 nepalese rupees tonight instead of 500 np for 30 mins! We have to share the ipad and charge it to get anything done though, so signing off until later.
