They Say You've Never Looked So Alive...
Bimbling along the main street in Inverary, Me Mam and me other Mam.
This was a very strange escape. We arrived at the same time as Mums 1 and 2 and Dad 2, and in the hotel, were loads of other people we knew. Dad 2 and Mum 1 had worked some kind of deal for a gang of people... and I think that everyone they knew were in the hotel.
Take a walk down to Inverary, you met people you knew. Drive to the Brewery - Meet people you know. Drive to the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, meet people you knew.
Jump in the pool. Soak someone you know. Scramble into the hot tub, in the dark, and the rain, and sit on someone you know. Grab a seat for dinner - be sitting next to loads of people you know.
It was the weirdest thing, but quite comforting in a way - the other thing that astounded me, was the fact that the majority of the staff were foreign nationals. Now I know that people come from all over the world to find employment, but in a wee hotel, on the west coast of Scotland, where the main road is closed by landslides for at least 2/3 of the winter months? Where one road leads to the far side of the Scotland, and the other road, is the same one.
What brings people to this wee, wet corner of Scotland?
Probably the views.
