Foxes bay trail
Day off - very welcome as it's been a manic week with several surveys completed and the CEO of Coral Cay visiting and organising a drinks reception for the island's leading citizens on Wednesday. We also attended citizens' day on Tuesday and ran a craft session for 10-11 year olds at the library on Saturday.
After lunch we walked over to Foxes bay, the road to which passes through the old exclusion zone. It was quite surreal seeing all of the abandoned houses and shops - and somewhat sobering to see how quickly the works of man disappear into the forest. After a fantastic snorkel in Foxes bay (Porcupinefish, Needlefish and some excellent Yellowfin Snapper) we took the hill trail back to Isles bay.
This photo of Kathy and I shows the view back towards the remains of Plymouth, swathed in volcanic mudflow.
