Monomonday: Old & New

Today's entry for the MonoMonday Challenge, with thanks to skeena for hosting, even while he's on holiday.

In these days of the mobile phone we're accustomed to instant communication. 110 years ago, it seems the postcard was the nearest thing: here's another of my Grandad's postcards to my Nan, before they were married, postmarked 10.15 pm in August 1905, in the obvious expectation, judging from the message, that it would reach her the next day before they were due to meet in the evening.

We spent the day with Tess's Mum & Dad, who will be celebrating their 64th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow. Tess has to work tomorrow so we celebrated a day early.
