Sculptures by the Sea

Lorraine and I had an appointment with a financial planner in town this morning and then decided to head out to Sculptures by the Sea. We thought Melbourne Cup Day would be a quiet day (I think others had the same idea) but it was an ideal day as far as the weather was concerned (mostly sunny and around 22 degrees).

I didn't find the same wow factor as I did last year but then I'd been with a financial planner for a couple of hours earlier. There were lots of nice sculptures but this one was very different and somewhat interactive. I will explain; the base was a circular platform with a distorted image on it and at the centre a reflective cylinder stood upright. When the viewer stood on the platform an image was reflected onto the cylinder from the base. Hope this makes sense.

The catalogue detailed it as follows;
"'Coast totem' by Linda Matthews in collaboration with Carterwilliamson NSW
Based on iconic images of Bondi, this installation uses cylindrical anamorphosis to transform the landscape."

We hope to visit again with friends on Saturday so maybe will have more images.
