Ashura

The Day of Ashura is on the tenth day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar. For Shia Muslims, Ashura is a solemn day of mourning the martyrdom of Hussein in 680 AD at Karbala in modern-day Iraq. It is marked with mourning rituals as can seen with this youngster, that has mud from Karbala smeared on his face.

Some photos of today's event are too graphic to be displayed publically. I will keep them for my own records and people that do NOT know the history behind these events will take offense in those images. I could really feel the pain, sorrow and heartfelt grief. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!
