Shopping
When I retired I vowed to shop at Tescos as little as possible. (That's not why their shares have fallen, I hasten to add). Recently, I have been bucking the trend and returning more often than I had wished. I blame blip and the consequent lack of time in a day. But now is the time to renew my vows, and what better place to start than Mattas.
Mattas is a Liverpool institution. We first shopped there in 1976 when they were in Granby Street and we lived off it. Since then we have moved twice, and they have moved once- to Bold Street. I really wanted a picture of Mr. Matta, but he is not often in the shop these days, leaving things to his 3 children. So this is one of his 2 sons, Duleep. When I told him that I really wanted to take a picture of his father he told me to just give him a ring when I had sorted out a convenient time and he would arrange for his father to come in. Now that is what I call customer service.
