Día de Muertos

Day 646 - Day of the Dead and our last full day in Barcelona (sad faces pulled).

After a much needed chilled start we hit the beach at Barceloneta. The boy along with the other English kids swam in the sea in his pants while I quietly muttered under my breath at the constant harassment by the "ice cold mojitos" / "massage" / "coconut" sellers.

A quick snack of empanadas from a cute little shop round the corner from our apartment - slightly annoyed we discovered this too late in our trip cos they were ace. Before hitting the Picasso museum (again literally round the corner - El Born Barrio is muy bueno).

I like taking my boy to see "art" his opinions are often refreshing as only a 6 year olds could be, and quite often spot on.

His opinion of Picasso? "His pictures got crazier as he got older....... crazy man"

All that was left was to celebrate Halloween barcelona stylee with more "urban" tapas in super cool designed bar, supping beer whilst the boy played with this light up helicopter launch thing in the square with all the other kids. The boy donned his outfit and at once had an international affinity with the equally scary outfitted Spanish kids and they greeted each other with nods and "holas". Xurro's were eaten as the boy entertained a completely baffled granny who couldn't understand a word of English nor our pathetic attempts at Spanish.

Just as I was attempting to settle the little dude a massiove dia de muertos commotion hit our street below, so we watched as devils galore drummed and fire crackered their way around.

A most fitting way to end an epic day and adventure!
