On the Dog and Bone

Even as I write this, I'm thinking I will have to explain the phrase Dog and Bone to Paula, as she's American...
We were having a laugh today about the word Sassenach, which she came across while reading the Outlander series. She looked it up on YouTube and when she said it to me I was none the wiser.
It was only when she spelled it out I got it.
