Ducks Landing.
Today was a pretty miserable day in Houston. We of course had the window cleaners around this morning so we could look out and more clearly see what a miserable day it was. The only consolation was that tomorrow is going to be worse with heavy storms forecasted all day.
Prospects of a decent blip did not look good. This afternoon Texann had a medical appointment and to drive to it you have to go past Hooks Airport in Houston. It is a small regional light aircraft airport. It has a pond with some decent wildlife so we stopped there on the way back to see if anything interesting was about.
The main airport is surrounded by a heavy wire fence and although I could see there were a lot of Black-Bellied Whistling-Ducks around they had all hidden behind the fence and my various attempts to shoot them through the fence failed. It was then I noticed that there was a slight gap at the bottom near the edge of the lake.
So lying down with my chemo pump on I got my camera wedged in the gap, (I did get both elbows of my over jacket totally muddy which did not please Texann much), I managed to get a shot of these ducks getting off of their plane. Not sure where they just flew in from but they headed straight for the water.
