Dressed for winter

This little American goldfinch has traded in his bright yellow summer plumage for his duller winter dress. but I think his black and white markings show off better now than they did in the summer. A mostly sunny morning gradually became cloud-covered and grey, and now it is raining. Time to put on my 'jammies and climb into bed with a good book. Thankfully we got to the polls and voted before the rain began to fall.
