I really should try to keep up ...
Sunday ... I gathered the pond gnomes together. They'd been strewn about the garden by raccoons and herons over the past couple of weeks. I usually stay on top of their random distribution of my pond decorations. But the weather's been fowl. (<< see what I did there?).
The herons actually grab decoy fish out the pond, lead weight and all, take off like a helicopter up and over the shrubbery, all smug thinking they've nabbed a delicious treat, then realize the wildly swinging weight attached to the decoy is threatening to seriously change their course, quite possibly in a southerly direction (assuming north is up). So they drop it. Some sooner than others.
Then there's the raccoons. You'd think they were smarter. They are, by all accounts. They get past garbage bin lids, suss out cat doors, and carefully ripple the surface of your pond to attract the stupid fish. But confronted with a shiny ceramic duck sat rigid near the pond they go gaga, take it by the neck, and drag it off a few yards before they realize there's no juicy entrails enclosed.
Urban nature. sigh.
Oh! And the deer?! Don't get me started!
Anyway, I really should try to keep up, seeing as I've paid to strew hearts and faves across the globe. I'm assuming hearts and faves don't compound. Or do they? If I don't use them one day do they carry over to the next? Am I sitting on a pile of hearts and faves?!
