Waiting around again... A shot taken from the roof of my car with my compact set on timer and resting on my beany hat.

Was told by someone last night that there is a well-known Indian photographer who swears by tying a piece of string to the barrel of his camera and the other end to his foot in order to steady the shot. Might try this- as my compact has a fairly sturdy, sticky-out barrel (although without care it could end in an expensive disaster which wouldn't be entirely unlike me). Would be good to have an an alternative & more convenient solution than lugging a tripod or (illegally) parking the car in the right position.
