Absolute Independence

A group of loud Catalans were shouting for absolute independence from the rest of Spain. God heard them, and did something about it. He actually was kind enough to give them more than what they asked for, namely absolute independence from the world.

The problem was that he didn't have a sufficiently fine pair of scissors, so the universal debate is now about who is to pay for the collateral damage.
