A railway runs through it
Today I found myself in Midway a little village north-west of Lexington. After yesterday's blip in the Chicago subway, I thought this would make a nice contrast. This railway line runs through the historic centre of Midway. It's not fenced off or anything - there's just grass on either side, and although there are a few paved crossing you can wander onto and across the track anywhere.
The locals assured me they only get "a couple of trains a day", but I still kept looking over my shoulder as I crouched on the track to take this shot!!
Also from Kentucky...
- Autumn colours
- tobacco in a drying and curing barn (it took me a while to work out what it was!)
And of course, horses:
- a statue at the airport - and another
- a star-spangled horse!
Waiting to board my flight back to Chicago....
