Moon shot
And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
- Genesis 1:14-19 (English Standard Version of the Bible)
I am always amazed when I look at the moon and the stars. To think that the moon was part of God's perfect plan. While many think it is only a lump of cosmic "dust", in reality it was created by God for His purpose - as a lesser light to rule the night and to separate light from darkness.
I wonder what our earth would be without it - without its light, without its gravitational pull. I am sure it would be a lot different.
I wonder what our cultures would be like without it. How would they be different if the moon was not there? How many farmers would not have known when to plant their crops? How many navigators would have been lost? How many romances would not have started without the moon? And how would our modern day culture be different without all of the amazing technology that came out of the race to the moon? . . . teflon . . . velcro . . .computers . . . etc. etc. etc.
Thank You, Lord, for providing for us in ways in which we rarely think of. Thank You for the moon and thank You for Your divine plan for it to enrich our lives. You are amazing God. All glory and honor to You, Lord. Amen
