Singing the Blues

When I saw a blue beaked tui a couple of weeks ago it was at Adrienne's house in her native tree fuschia. I was there again this afternoon, having coffee on her deck, with my camera at the ready. But alas, there were no tuis to be seen and her fuschia is pretty much past it's flowering.

There were waxeyes and thrushes and fantails but no tuis.

A couple of hours later I went down the road to where I know some wekas are living, hoping to spot their chicks. No wekas or chicks to be seen but I DID find another blue beaked tui!

That blue pollen is just amazing. I've never seen anything like it - but it got me to wondering about how bees and their honey would look if they collected it.
