Birth

Hope this is not too squeamish!!
A brilliant morning at Donna Nook for my warden duties. The sun shone, this seal gave birth just on the dunes in front of me, there were birds galore, lapwings, plovers, dunlins, redshanks, and starlings to name but a few. The plovers and starlings were making wonderful shapes in the bright sunshine.
After about 3 hours of tossing and turning this seal gave birth ( it took about a minute) and here is the first glimpse of a new seal still in its sack but with eyes wide open and alert.
Also met a friend from last year -now also a blipper
