Frozen assets

I wake up thinking of lists of stuff I’ve been meaning to do, but haven’t yet got round to.  Like covering our tender plants with fleece before the first frost appears.

It appeared this morning.

And yet ….

….. these Gazanias never seem to know when to give up - they’ve been in flower for over 6 months now.  A couple of buds to the left of frame (and cropped out to avoid distressing any keen gardeners) did not survive the night.  But this couple did.

At the GP surgery waiting for a blood test.  A little boy - about 5 or 6 years I guess - comes in with his mother.  He’s one of these bouncy, happy, chatty children who is not at all phased by a waiting room full of strangers.  He plays with some toys while his mother signs in.

After a while the general hubbub dies down and there’s a moment of relative quiet.  A little voice pipes up; “Mum…… do you hate children?”  It’s the emphasis on the word ‘hate’ that has everyone transfixed and his mother mortified.  “No” she blusters as all eyes swivel in her direction.  And then my name is called so I don’t get to see what happens next.

Because, like the frost - I can’t believe there’s not more to come ….
