I've seen this more times than I like. Mama brings the youngster around and then takes off and leaves them. This little one is not quite sure what to do and has climbed the grapefruit tree in an attempt to hide. I guess it is time. Mama Raccoon knows the right timing, I am sure, and the young one will know what to do to survive if she has taught him well, which I am assuming she did. Still, it is not my favorite thing to witness.
