Dramatic defensive location with crags on three sides Stirling Castle has seen its share of battles, Kings and Queens including Mary Queen of Scots who was crowned there in 1542 six days after her Birth at Linlithgow following the death of her father James V of Scotland.

Another notable date was 1746 when Bonnie Prince Charlie failed in his attempt to take the castle.
