the unknown lane...
went for a very-very early morning photography trip today...with only 2.5 hours of sleep separating a late night movie and the very early morning drive, I was almost dozing in the back seat of the car. Some of my friends from work had spotted some old bridge, sugarcane mill and a lake in the outskirts of Hyderabad a few weeks ago. We reached there today, well before dawn. Making our way though thorny bushes, we found ourselves next to a narrow stream, under the age-old bridge...I imagined some photos of the bridge in the mist...but this being Hyderabad and the month of March, the sunrise behind the bridge was pretty much flat. We decided to move on to the lake but were forced to stop as we drove by the dew-covered paddy fields...after a very long time, I saw so much greenery...there were spiders and damselflies playing hide and seek with the golden hues of the sun...we all thought that the long drive has been finally worthwhile; hardly did we know what was in store for us...we drove on to go and see the lake for once since we have come so far...on the way, we spotted an alley off the main road...the alley was a short one - maybe a 100 meters...with houses lined on either side and ending into the green paddy fields...the residents of the neighbourhood were somewhat surprised to suddenly see three big cameras in their lane...the kids, as usual were the most receptive ones...but we found even the adults surprisingly accommodating and welcoming...they were more than glad to let us click pictures of them and the kids...we spent not long but a really good time there...the kids got so engrossed that they forgot they have to go to school...one of the kids actually started crying when her mom tried to drag her out of all the fun and take her to school...we decided not to mess their routine up and moved ahead to the next lane...shortly after, we saw one of the girls from the other lane walking up to us...when we asked what happened to her school, she replied, with a smile - "I went to school, dropped my school bag at my desk and came running back"
...joys of street photography :)
