Art of Remembrance
Every single poppy represents a life; it’s hard to take in when you see the scale of this act of remembrance. I went to visit the Imperial War Museum after and to learn some of the stories from World War One, you realise what a waste of life it was. It’s an amazing thing to see, and if you can I would get there before the 11th, you won’t regret it.
So as I said after visiting the Tower of London, I made my way across to the Imperial War Museum and this again is a special place. Far from glorifying war it actually tells the futility of it, facts interspersed with personal letters/stories of how people suffered. The World War One and Holocaust areas of the museum are particularly hard hitting and moving, I must admit to having to hold back tears after seeing and reading some of the stuff. Well worth a visit though!
Lunch at Fortnum and Mason, which was very nice. Who would have thought a Valley boy such as myself dining there hey? Lol! I didn’t get much of a chance to have a wander around though, so I need to make another visit.
And then off to the West End and the Savoy Theatre to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – the Musical. Sadly the two leads, Robert Lindsay and Rufus Hound were missing, although their understudies were pretty amazing and as I’m not much of a fan of Mr Hound I wasn’t too disappointed. It was excellent and very funny!
A pretty awesome day in London!
