Times Of My Life

Feckin' Fantastic Friday

Jeez-oh, I have had such a brilliant day!

Rocky is the ideal sleeping partner, and was quite content to stay curled up at the back of my knees, on top of the cover, until 9.30 this morning. I know - soooooo lazy!

When I got up I got 3 loads of washing done, put a pan of soup on, took him for a walk, came back and had a shower before going into town to meet my friend Sandra P for lunch at the Royal George.

We had a lovely lunch, sitting in the conservatory looking out over the Tay, and put the world to rights. This is what women in their 50's and 60's ought to be blinkin' well doing! We both work four days, so how come it has taken us about 3 years to manage to coordinate a Friday where we were both free to have lunch?

I enjoyed it so much. After we went our separate ways, I headed off up the High Street with my shopping list:

1 - Birthday card for lovely nephew Kyle, who is 28 next week. Plays in band called 'We Came From Wolves', and is in the studio just now making a new album.

2 - Birthday card for lovely daughter Abi, who will be 40 at the end of the month. 40!!!! I was 17 when I had her, and a single mum, and we had the best of times together right up until she left home when she was 19. G and I didn't get together until she was 21, so it was the two of us against the world for a very long time. In my head she is still the cookie wee 16-year old who works in a hippy shop, and plays music too loud in her bedroom.

3 - Shampoo. Thought instead of buying it in the supermarket with the shopping as I usually do, I'd go mad and go to Boots, and buy something different for a change.

4 - Carrots. To add in to the big pan of soup.

5 - Black shoes for work. Got them in Clark's, nice black leather loafers which will be fine with either a skirt or trousers, comfy and smart.

Amazingly, I got every single item on my list in the High Street, using Sainsbury's wee express place for the carrots (and a cheeky wee bottle of wine to wash down my tea).

The birthday cards were tricky, as the card shops were all awash with Christmas stuff. It's hard for us folk with winter birthdays; the card manufacturers obviously do their profit calculations based on birthdays only occurring between January and September!

Got home, and while I was pootling around putting stuff away, G phoned to say he was on his way from the airport, and would bring an Indian takeaway for supper.

Come on now Blippers - admit it - I have had the perfect feckin' Friday!!

Hope yours are all good too. I'm off now to get the plates warmed ........
