Grenfell Park!

Grenfell Park was donated to the town of Maidenhead in 1897 by Lord Desborough (William Grenfell) to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

The park has an amphitheatre look and feel and a number of interesting trees. It would seem that the seeds for these trees were supplied by Lord Desborough from his travels around the world.

As I went for a walk in the park today in search of a blip, I was reminded of the athleticism of Lord Desborough who apparently 'swam the Niagara rapids twice, climbed the Matterhorn three times, rowed across the English Channel and was Amateur Punting Champion of the Upper Thames' (Wikipedia).
